As we approach the final 24 hours of the decade, we are bringing you something to cap off a great year – the seventh and final part of our Gear of the Year series.
So whenever you’re considering a new gun, optic or shooting accessory, you need to know that it works really well, is a pleasure to use and represents great value for money. Here are just some of the items that have impressed us over the past year!
Clothing and accessories
NAPIER POWER PULL THROUGH KIT
Napier’s Power Pull Through Kit has been an evergreen staple whenever we carry out any barrel cleaning here at Airgun Shooter. Now there’s a newer and greener version of the kit that features a more environmentally friendly and non-pressurised pump pack of Airgun Oil.
Because it’s unpressurised, the pump spray is lighter in weight and contains no flammable propellant, but holds exactly the same amount of oil. The kit also contains 50 pull-through patches, the pull-through itself plus three VP90 field patches for an in-the-field wipe-down.
OMEGA TRAILCHARGER
The Omega TrailCharger compressor from Gilbert Distribution is a highly portable machine that runs off a 12 volt car battery. Included in the package is a 220v inverter to run it on mains electricity.
It’s water cooled, rather than solely air cooled, giving it a substantially longer service life. Filling a rifle or pistol directly is hassle-free, especially as there’s an auto shut-off system, which you set at your desired target pressure so you don’t have to hang around watching the pressure gauge as the compressor does its job.
AIGLE PARCOURS BOOTS
While most Wellington boots are excellent at keeping out water, mud and other crud, Aigle’s Parcours series of boots go one step further as they’re designed for walking, not just wearing.
Parcours boots use a special mix of materials in the intermediate sole, outer sole and heel to absorb impact while improving comfort, grip and balance while reducing fatigue. This makes them a good choice to use on a roving hunt or even a muddy HFT course.
RIDGELINE SNIPER BAG
Whenever you head out to shoot, you need to be sure that your rifle will arrive at your destination in perfect condition, and the Sniper Bag is one of the best ways to keep your gun secure.
It features a large front pocket, a detachable day sack, a pouch at the base of the bag for items such as binoculars, hideaway rucksack straps and a 3D clip securing system with a two-way zip.
SPARTAN JAVELIN LITE BIPOD
The Javelin Lite from Spartan Precision Equipment is there when you need it, gone when you don’t. Attached via an adapter that stays on the rifle, the bipod is designed to be snapped in place using a magnet when it’s required.
It’s a high-quality modular design made from carbon-fibre and CNC-machined aluminium components with a choice of three leg lengths.

BRITISH SHOOTING SHOW
The Great British Shooting Show gives everyone the chance to get hands on with the latest airguns and shoot them.
There are plenty of optics and accessories too, and if you’re in the market for night vision or thermal imaging equipment you can use the night vision tunnel to test them. Next year’s show takes place from 14-16 February at the NEC in Birmingham.

Visit the Northern Shooting Show and see all the latest guns from big names including Air Arms, Brocock, Daystate and Weihrauch. You can try them too.
