Win a week’s work experience at one of the UK’s finest gun auctioneer’s London sales in the BASC online auction
Holt’s – Auctioneers of fine modern and antique guns – has donated a one-week work experience lot to the British Association of Shooting & Conservation (BASC) annual online auction!
The exciting work experience role at one of its London sales, which comes with a guide price of £1,500, includes full board and a modest remuneration package, is a rare opportunity for a young person to be involved with the work of the leading auction house specialising fine modern and antique guns.
The role will involve helping set-up the auction viewing rooms, handling some of the finest examples of gunmaking in the world, assisting clients searching for particular lots and acting as clerk’s runner on the day of the sale. The only stipulations are that the winning bidder puts forward a candidate aged between 18 and 25 – and they must be presentable, enthusiastic… with boundless energy and humour! (In addition they must undergo a CRB check.)
The BASC auction funds the shooting organisation’s political programme to defend shooting throughout the UK and also supports its popular Young Shots programme that helps bring new people into the world of shooting sports. In this, the general election year, the auction has particular importance.
Nicholas Holt, pictured below, commented: “Anything that positively brings young people into our trade has to be a good thing, especially if it helps underpin a love of shooting and our countryside. We are very pleased to offer this lot to BASC’s superb auction and promise the lucky individual a thoroughly enjoyable, fun and interesting week.”
