Jeanette & Daniel Leivers: the story so far

Jeanette Leivers spent her evenings watching her son Daniel on the range – and then thought she’d give it a go as well.

Our introduction to airgun shooting was in 2010, me sitting in a freezing outdoor range watching my son Daniel shoot air rifle at Bookham Rifle Club. Boredom led me to have a go myself and I was delighted that I could consistently hit the black, much to the surprise of my son.

I still have my first target on the wall in the kitchen.

After about a year of using club guns I purchased for Daniel an Air Arms S200, which is what the National Scout Squad were using, and immediately his scores approved dramatically. However, Daniel informed me that he had ‘found a pistol’ and was switching.

I followed, and to our surprise became a proficient pistol shooter.

A chance conversation led to us being entered for County Air Pistol Competitions and the NSRA/Eley competitions.

Daniel was invited to join the National Scout Squad and his talent led him to be invited to join the South East Pistol Squad. I was invited to join the British Pistol Club and made the finals of Class A of the NSRA Eley competition.

A shoulder injury that needed surgery meant I have now turned all of my energies into other areas of the sport. I am Surrey County Air Pistol Captain and am devoted to introducing young people to the sport through the Target Shooting School.
