This year looks to be an exciting one. The SHOT Show has just taken place in Las Vegas – it’s the biggest shooting show in the world – and we bring you a preview of some of new and upgraded rifles that are on the way from Daystate and Brocock.

We remain in the grips of winter for another month, but that’s no excuse not to get outdoors and go shooting! But we’ve been having some very cold and very wet weather lately, so Mike Morton’s been running through the steps you should take to look after your rifle if you’ve been caught out in the rain.

Winter pigeon shooting is one of Mat Manning’s favourite pest control assignments. These birds do serious damage when they flock to their feeding grounds at this time of year, and they’re also great to eat. So Mat’s been heading out after some winter woodies, and apart from assisting with crop protection, he’s also been rewarded with some wonderful meat for the table.

Target shooting expert Andy McLachlan has been focusing his attention on high-end scopes for HFT, picking four top optics costing over £500. Andy also explains exactly what you get when you shell out large sums of money like this, and why you might want to consider making such an investment.

Spring guns old and new have been put through their paces for this issue. Mike’s been looking at the venerable Weihrauch HW 95K, while Mat’s been getting to grips with the new Tornado pistol from AirForceOne.

All this is capped off with our Airgun Answers section, where we tackle your shooting-related problems by offering some pointers on tackling wary corvids from a hide, hunting when it’s raining and safety precautions with springers.

Subscribe today and get Airgun Shooter delivered straight to your door every month – no hassle!
