Shoot on a shoe-string with new issue of Airgun Shooter!

Take a sneak peek inside the brand new issue

The nights are starting to draw in, but far from putting an end to airgun hunting, this just means we’re being offered different opportunities and need to take a different approach to our shooting. Our resident Countryman, Mat Manning, heads out into the dark on a solo lamping trip, passing along many of his tips and tricks along the way.

In our Target Shooter section, Andy McLachlan discusses the merits of the scope enhancer – a device that seems to fall in and out of fashion on a regular basis. He also takes a look at pistol shooting and ways of getting youngsters involved in the sport.

Andy also dives into the world of HFT scopes for this issue’s Supertest, examining four of the very best optics you can buy for under £500 – any of which would be perfect for this exciting outdoor target sport.

Learn how to shoot on a budget with Mike Morton’s helpful guide

While we’re on the subject of money, Mike Morton offers a few suggestions for making your own shooting accessories on a shoestring, so if you’re looking for a set of shooting bags or sticks, get ready to spend a little to save a lot!

Our main rifle review is The Priest, a striking little straight-pull from Slovenian company RTI Arms. Mat, meanwhile, takes a close look at the Umarex UX Patrol, a low-priced package that’s perfect for toppling targets.

All this is capped off with our Airgun Answers section, where we tackle your shooting-related problems including questions about optically centring scopes and whether or not lead BBs are a suitable alternative to steel.
