Torrential rain failed to dampen spirits at the second annual Barry Hutchins Memorial Shoot, held near Shaftesbury during the late May bank holiday weekend.
Dozens of shooters, including Barry’s family and close friends, braved the elements, sleeping under canvas to take part in the celebratory camp-out.
Attendees travelled from as far as Scotland to pay their respects to the late shooting forum and magazine contributor, who lived in Gillingham, Dorset.
Sunday saw campers shoot it out for the Barry Hutchins Memorial Cup – contested over a 20-target HFT course with all competitors shooting a .177 BSA Hornet from Barry’s treasured collection. Top shot was Barry’s grandson, Ben Hutchins, who scored an impressive 37 ex 40 points.
Co-organiser Nic Wenham said: “The weather was atrocious so we really must thank everyone who made the effort to take part – it really does show how highly regarded Barry was. We all had a great time, and the wonderful atmosphere really is down to all the people who join in.
“Thanks also go to Barry and Phil from Planet Airgun. They set up a very challenging HFT layout which everyone really enjoyed.”
