To whet your appetite for the show, here are the Top 10 things to see and do at the 2022 Northern Shooting Show.

The Northern Shooting Show returns to the Yorkshire Event Centre on Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 May, and once again offers a fantastic range of attractions and activities set to delight shooting enthusiasts and families looking for a fun day out.

Whether you’re keen on airguns, clay shooting, rifles, gundogs, bushcraft or airsoft, you’ll find plenty to keep you entertained at the Northern Shooting Show. With free parking for all attendees and free entry for children courtesy of BASC, it makes an affordable day out for families and groups too. To help you plan your visit, here are the top 10 things to see and do at this year’s Northern Shooting Show: 

1. All Things Airguns

​​Are you brand new to shooting or an airgun enthusiast? If so, this is the place for you! The airgun attractions sit at the heart of the Northern Shooting Show and are often where those new to shooting take their first steps in the sport. With both air rifles and pistols to try and experts on hand to answer all your questions, this is a must-see attraction. Expect leading airgun brands, show specials and deals and a fantastic atmosphere in this zone. There’s also the chance to try before you buy thanks to the airgun sector of the outdoor have-a-go zone.

2. The HFT Championships sponsored by Vortex Optics

The HFT Championship will be set in an attractive wooded area with ponds and manicured grassed banking close to the main entrance. On the Saturday of the show visitors can try their hand at shooting Hunter Field Targets (HFTs) with the help and supervision of experts, then on the Sunday the competition itself takes place. It’s set to attract hundreds of entrants with Vortex Optics gifting a Vortex scope for the overall winner, another scope as a prize for the free raffle and Vortex caps free to every Junior-class shooter.

3. The Hunt and Hall Ladies Lounge 

New for 2022 is the Ladies Lounge, sponsored in its inaugural appearance at the Northern Shooting Show by new British clothing brand Hunt and Hall. In the Ladies Lounge visitors can chat to members of shooting group Country Girls UK and find out more about women’s shooting events and competitions. Hunt and Hall was founded by celebrity stylist Natalie Harper Howell and is the home of stylish country clothing with an equestrian edge. Visitors to the Ladies Lounge will be able to meet Natalie and her models and try on and buy the brand’s designs. 

4. The Gamebore Cartridges Clayline

Head to the Clayline to try clay shooting for the first time, hone your skills, check out the latest new guns on offer from leading manufacturers or take part in a challenging competition. Gamebore sponsor this year’s Clayline which also plays host to representatives The British Association of Shooting and Conservation (BASC) and The Clay Pigeon Shooting Association (CPSA), who will both host ‘have a go’ stands, and Starshot Shooting, a thrilling shooting challenge!

5. The Airsoft Experience 

If Airsoft is your passion, or you would like to learn more about this fun and fast-paced simulated gun combat game, make sure you head to the Airsoft Experience at the Northern Shooting Show. Have a go at Airsoft for the first time, browse the latest equipment and accessories and chat to experts from local clubs and organisations to learn more about this tactical, fast-paced sport. 

6. The Gundog Field 

Always a popular attraction for show visitors both young and old, the Gundog Field will play host to both demonstration and competitions throughout the weekend, ensuring that there’s always something exciting to watch. The 2022 Gundog Field will be hosted by award-winning gundog trainer Darren Kirk and will include a gundog clinic where visitors have the chance to chat to trainers about any challenges and issues with their dog. The competitions are sponsored by Mad About Pets UK, manufacturers of dog travel and whelping boxes, and Wonderdog working dog food. Categories include gundog scurries (including a junior division), working tests and long retrieves. 

7. The Rifle Zone 

Whether you’re into stalking, target shooting or vermin control, the Rifle Zone is a melting pot for all rifle disciplines with a unique opportunity to check out the vast array of guns from specialist rifle manufacturers along with some of the best custom builders in the country. As well as the rifles themselves you can take in reloading demonstrations and browse a massive array of ammunition and reloading equipment. 

8. The Yorkshire Auctioneer

Meet TV presenter and popular auctioneer Angus Ashworth at this year’s Northern Shooting Show! Also known as The Yorkshire Auctioneer, Angus has been a regular expert on the much-loved daytime TV shows Antiques Road Trip and Celebrity Antiques Road Trip and in 2021 he fronted up a new show, The Yorkshire Auction House, shown on the digital streaming channel Really/Discovery and set to return later this year.

9. The NGO Gamekeepers Row

Sponsored once again by the National Gamekeepers Organisation (NGO), Gamekeepers Row reflects the rich shooting and fieldsports heritage of the Yorkshire area and offers visitors the chance to learn more about gamekeeping and how it is vital for the upkeep of the countryside and conservation. Join members of the NGO for a cup of tea and learn more about their fascinating profession as well as chatting to representatives from the National Organisation of Beaters & Pickers Up and The Gamekeepers Welfare Trust. 

10. The Bushcraft Area

Perfect for allowing kids to let off some steam and for adults to learn something new, the Bushcraft area shares a range of outdoor, hunting and survival skills aimed at helping people survive and thrive in the natural environment. Daily shows in the Bushcraft Area include pigeon and crow shooting, wildfowling and game calling.

Adult tickets are £15 in advance for one day or £29 for two days. 
Child tickets – children go free thanks to the support of BASC.
