Entry-level airguns are constantly improving in terms of quality and affordability, and anyone with £200 to spend on a no-frills springer will find themselves spoilt for choice. And now there’s another contender to add to your shortlist: the AirForceOne Sirocco from The Shooting Party.

This gun is capable of printing one-inch groups out to about 25m. That sort of performance makes for a great plinking gun, and its full-power performance means it has plenty of grunt to send spinning targets whizzing round with a gratifying whir. It’s sufficiently accurate to confidently tackle live quarry out to 20m, making it very handy for short-range pest control.

In terms of the actual shooting experience, the easy cocking stroke means you can blast through a lot of pellets without feeling the strain, and you’ll really appreciate the very consistent trigger let-off. The spring and piston action does have a bit of a twang, but recoil is surprisingly mild.

The AirForceOne Sirocco is a functional and robustly built airgun which should require minimal maintenance. Best of all, it doesn’t have any silly gimmicks, so although it’s not expensive, you know none of that money is being wasted on unnecessary frills.

It’s actually hard to believe that it costs less than £120 – or £180 if you go for the combo featured here that includes a telescopic sight, mounts and gun bag. And for that, you get a hard-hitting springer that should be well at home both on the plinking range and on basic pest control assignments.

Our thanks go out to The Shooting Party (www.shootingparty.uk) for supplying this fabulous competition prize.

This competition closes on 5th September, so you’d better hurry!
